This Day in Mets History

2001- Armando Benitez gives up 3 runs in the ninth including a 2-run HR by Brain Jordan who later hit the game winning HR off Jerrod Riggan. If the Mets would have held on it would have marked the first time since 1991 that the Braves didn't hold first place in September.

2008- Jose Reyes collects his 200th hit of the season with a bases-loaded triple in a much-needed Mets 6-2 victory over the Cubs at Shea Stadium. The 25-year old shortstop joins Lance Johnson (1996) as one of the only two players in franchise history to do so.(www.nationalpastime.com)
