This Day in Mets History

1966- The Mets with 5 and the Giants with 3 tie a ML record for number of pinch hitters used in an inning as the Mets win 5-4.

1996- The Mets released Wayne Kirby.

Mets OF Lance Johnson hits his 20th triple become the first NL player to do so since Willy Mays in 1957.

2007- With a homer in seventh inning of a 10-6 loss to the Phillies at Shea Stadium, David Wright becomes the 30th member of the 30-30 club. Returning to the dugout, the Mets third baseman is greeted by hitting coach Howard Johnson, who along with Darryl Strawberry are the other Mets to also have stole 30 bases and hit 30 homers in the same season.
