This Day in Mets History

1963- Inspired by their fans, the Mets hold the first of many Banner Days including an on field parade in between the double header that day.

1969: The Mets defeat Steve Carlton despite his 19k's that then set a major league record because Ron Swoboda hit 2 two-run homeruns to win 4-3.

1973- Mets Rookie Mike Vail hits in his 23rd consecutive game to tie a National League record.

1987- The Mets traded Shane Young and Jeff Richardson to the California Angels for John
Candelaria.

Keith Hernadez collects his 2,000th hit as the Mets beat the Cubs 12-4.

1994- The Mets are informed that Doc Gooden is in violation of his aftercare program for substance abuse.
