This Day in Mets History

1989-The Mets obtain Frank Viola, last season's American League Cy Young Award winner, from the Twins for Rick Aguilera, Tim Drummond, Kevin Tapani, Jack Savage and David West. He had a rough time in New York posting 38-32 record in 82 starts with a team which fails to make the playoffs during his 2 1/2 year tenure.

1995-The Mets trade former two-time Cy Young Award winner right-handed pitcher Bret Saberhagen and left-handed pitcher farmhand Dave Swanson to the Rockies for righties Juan Acevedo and Arnold Gooch.

1998- The Mets traded Bill Pulsipher to the Brewers for Mike Kinkade.

Traded Bernard Gilkey and Nelson Figueroa to the Diamondbacks for Willie Blair and Jorge Fabregas.

1999- The Mets traded Jason Isringhasuen and Greg McMichael to the A's for Billy Taylor

Mets Traded Craig Paquette to the Cardinals for Shawn Dunston.

Mets traded Brian McRae, Thomas Johnson, and Rico Beltran to the Rockies for Darryl Hamilton and Chuck McElroy

2002- The Mets traded Jay Payton, Robert Stratton, and Mark Corey to Colorado Rockies for John Thomson and Mark Little.

Traded Bobby Jones, Jason Bay, and Josh Reynolds to the Padres for Jason Middlebrook and Steve Reed.

2004-Traded Scott Erickson to the Rangers for Josh Hoffpauir

2006- The Mets traded Xavier Nady to the Pirates for Roberto Hernandez and Oliver Perez.
