Time to Get Rid of Livan and Schneider

I wish the Mets could do one thing right this year and get rid of the players that are not gonna be back with the team next year. We have guys down in Buffalo and in Binghamton that I would rather see playing right now then Livan, Schneider, and Redding.

These players should not be in the plans for next years team, therefore they should not be on a non-contending team in August and September.

Livan was good the first half of the season but he has obviously hit some short of wall and it is time to get someone younger who could have a future with this team. I would bring up Lance Broadway(who is on the 40) or Tobi Stoner who is not. Granted neither has done great at Buffalo but Stoner has never seen the bigs and Broadway has never seen the National League. And there is no way that either could do any worse then what Livan has been doing.

Schneider has been an automatic out lately not even hitting balls hard, he has become very hard to watch. Over the last month or so he may be the worst ML hitter I have ever seen. He is a free agent after the season and obviously should not be in the plans for next years team. The Mets could bring up Josh Thole who has been hitting great this year(.331avg) and see if he is a fit for next years team or boost his trade value. They could bring up Rene Rivera who is only 26 and has 5 HR's and 14 RBI's over his last 10 games.

I liked the Tim Redding signing because I thought he would make a good #5 but he has not worked out and he won't be back with the team next year. By getting rid of him the Mets can begin evaluating some options for next years bullpen. They could bring up guys on the 40 like Eddie Kunz or Arturo Lopez or other intriguing options like Adam Bostick or Roy Merritt.

The whole idea behind this is to give the younger guys who could be a part of the future a chance instead of the old washed up players who won't be here next year. Just put Livan, Redding, and Schneider on waivers maybe there is a contending team that would want a veteran, if no one does then cut them.

Its time for the Mets to stop relying on old past their prime players every year to patch up there team.
